Lake Vinuela
Lake Vinuela is one of the most spectacular scenes east of Malaga. This manmade reservoir serves thousands of homes throughout the Costa del Sol and is one of the most visited local landscapes in the area. Covering a massive 700 hectares, and holding approximately 170 million cubic metres of water, it is one of the biggest lakes in the Costa del Sol.
The lake is a favourite place for the locals to escape for a relaxing day out. The location offers peace and tranquillity which is often hard to find in the busy city of Malaga.
An added feature to Lake Vinuela is the exotic birds which famously sing loud and flutter above the picnickers and sunbathers, before perching above in the pine trees.
Unfortunately for some, no motorised crafts are allowed on the lake due to it being a reservoir. Even small sail boats and canoes can cause disturbance to the still water surface. Although this may upset some of the sport enthusiasts, there are other activities which you can take part in out of the water. There are also picnic areas, equipped with barbeques and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and lake.
