Granada
Granada is famous for being the historical city of World Heritage. Millions of tourists and international students visit Granada each year to learn about Spain’s history.
Located along the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, Granada is the last great Moorish kingdom in Spain.
It stretches along two main hills, the Albaicín and the Alhambra; it has two rivers, the Darro and Genil. Granada is a popular location for history ‘buffs’ and has been declared a ‘National Monument’ by the Spanish government.
Granada is the home of the prestigious University of Granada and is considered to be one of the three best cities for students in Spain. The city also has special seasons for musical events, cinema and theatre. Festivals and exhibitions are usually open permanently throughout the year for the public to visit.
One of the main attractions in Granada is the Generalife summer palace. This is close to the chapel and is renowned for its beautiful gardens and water features.
Finally, for the more adventurous tourists, the Sierra Nevada mountain range is just south of Granada. Here there is a ski resort which offers the highest peak in Spain, called Mulhacén.
