Coin

Coin is situated in the valley of Rio Grande, around 21 km from the hustle and bustle of lively Marbella. The old market town has many historical stories about where the town’s name originates and who discovered it, all which can be discovered by visiting this beautiful town.

The market was once a transition area for minerals. Marble and iron ore were just two of these minerals which were quarried and mined in Coin during the 19th century.
Now the village is famous for its luscious gardens which grow oranges and lemons, and many more common fruits. Their famous orange tree is featured upon Coin’s coat of arms. The area is also abundant with palm trees which garnish the landscape.

Coin is known famously as one of the most beautiful, and solemn locations in the Costa del Sol. Malaga, the capital of the region, boast that Coin it is one of the most picturesque areas in the region to visit.

Tourists particularly find that the chapel on top of the hill is a favourite place to visit, and if you are lucky enough to be in the area at the right time, it holds a fantastic annual fair. Upon the hill are some magnificent views of the Costa del Sol and countryside fields.
