Spain to see less impact as sterling value falls
Costa del Sol set to avoid major tourism decline
The Spanish Tourist Office believes it will be more resistant than other Eurozone countries to falling visitor numbers as the pound loses value against the Euro, thanks to its lasting love affair with British holiday makers.
Paco Gutierrez, a promotions executive for the Spanish Tourist Office, agreed that the fall in value of the pound against the single European currency has made eurozone destinations less attractive to Brits. However whilst visitor numbers to some European holiday destinations have declined rapidly Spain has not felt the same impact.
Mr Gutierrez believes that there is a sense of loyalty and familiarity that ensures Spain will always be a popular choice for Brits. Gutierrez said “The thing about Spain is that most people know and love it because they have been there before”.
Gutierrez also added that the bigger cities such as Malaga, Madrid and Barcelona are likely to see the lowest impact.
