Fuengirola agrees to clean up fuel usage
Fuengirola agrees to 'cleaner' cars
The Town Hall in Fuengirola has agreed to clean up its act by converting a number of its fleet vehicles to run on autogas. The change will reduce the emission of harmful gases from council vehicles using the liquefied petroleum gas.
The Mayor of Fuengirola Esperanza Oña signed an agreement with Repsol’s Director for Andalucía, Benjamín Velasco in an attempt to become advocators of clean driving in the Costa del Sol resort. Vehicles running on autogas also enjoy reduced maintenance costs and, as Benjamín Velasco pointed out, autogas is around 30% cheaper than conventional fuels.
The cost of converting the 17 vehicles is being covered by Repsol, and under the agreement the Town Hall must add an additional 5 autogas vehicles to the fleet within the next two years.
