Costa del Sol Luxury Car Thieves Gang arrests
Clamp down on Costa del Sol car theft
Police in Spain have made a number of arrests on the Costa del Sol of luxury car thieves. It has been reported that nine Bulgarians and Rumanians have been arrested by the National Police.
A growing trend has emerged of thieves taking luxury cars abroad and it is believed that the Police have broken up a gang who were working in the Costa del Sol region with bases in Málaga, Marbella and Fuengirola. They apparently sold these cars onto local drug traffickers together with forged papers and false number plates.
It is understood that the Police Operation was co-ordinated by the Málaga Prosecutors Department and it has been reported in La Opinión de Málaga that of the nine seven remain in prison whilst two females who have been arrested have been granted bail pending charges being brought.
It is believed that the cars were intended for shipping to Romania and Bulgaria and that the leader of the gang is known to the police both in Spain and Bulgaria.
